This is probably my favorite quote of all time:
There are so many things we just think “won’t work” or “aren’t possible” or “can’t happen.” And, we’re wrong.
We just don’t know what we don’t know yet.
I think I must have been born to challenge those statements. Yep, I suspect that it’s part of my life purpose… to illuminate possibilities.
Now, I’m not going to pretend that it’s always easy because it most assuredly isn’t at all. Not even a little bit.
I can’t even count the number of times I’ve heard…
“Why can’t you just_____”
“Stop trying to recreate the wheel.”
“Just go with it.”
“This is the way it has always been done.”
“Someone smarter than you already figured this out.”
“You can’t do that.”
“Don’t waste your time; it’ll never happen.”
All statements that I’m not afraid to face down and then stand back (somewhat in awe myself) and say, “Huh, will you look at that!” <= I usually say that out loud and probably too often with a little too much sass.
When someone says these – or similar statements – to me, it stokes my inner fire like nothing else!
I have a very clear understanding that just because something isn’t right or doesn’t work or didn’t occur to someone else, doesn’t mean that it isn’t going to work for me.
The Universe plants seeds within us all the time; we don’t get the same seeds that everyone else does, we get the ones that we have the ability to grow if we’re so inclined.
Sometimes we need someone to help us see the seeds that are there within us and to remind us that yes, indeed we can make them grow and flourish into a beautiful new reality (or belief).
Will we ever grow all of the seeds within us? Who knows? My guess is no, we’ll probably never even be aware that some of them are there.
Just know this… if you have an idea, you also have what it takes to pull it off. Which leads me to another favorite quote…
And with that, I tell you… go off and tend to every hair-brained idea, every crazy thought, and every ridiculous idea that your thinker can think!
Go on and shake some shoulds and break some rules. The world needs people not afraid to shatter some conventions, dig their heels in and say YES I CAN!
